When looking at the only Air Quality sensor in Larisa whose activity is visible in real time by anyone on the Airly website (https://airly.org/map/en/#39.635407,22.41419,i15580), one can only wonder what the hell is going on there.
Pollution there is always in the red to purple levels, meaning AIR POLLUTION ALERT!!!! Every evening PM2,5 go well above the concentration of 200 μg/m3, which is 20 times above the safety limit set by the WHO. The city is one of the most polluted in Greece as it is literally covered in wood smoke day and night. The smell of wood smoke rarely clears out, only in the rare windy days.

How can people living there accept that? What is their daily life when they have to constantly breathe that poor quality air? How many of them are suffering and developing respiratory problems due to the extremely high pollution? Citizens of Larisa must learn about the dangers of the smoke they produce and must be helped to improve the air they breathe.
Hopefully this help will come from two new official AQ monitoring stations that soon will be installed in the city, which will help the population to better understand what they are breathing; and hopefully authorities will quickly start discussions and take the measures needed to reduce the pollution.
